The Bible and Numbers

The Bible has many recurring passages about certain Numbers which seem to hold a special significance, like the Numbers 3, 4, 7 and 10 with their multiples like 12 and their larger Octaves like 40, 4 scores, and the 7 days, 70 weeks, 7 and 49 years of the Jubilee, to name a few.

There is a pattern of completeness in the Number 7 with the 7 days of Creation, the 7 days of the week, the 70 weeks of Daniel, the 7 years and 7 x 7 years of the Jubilee.

Leviticus 25:4 – But in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, a sabbath for the Lord: thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard.

Leviticus 25:8 – And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years.

Leviticus 25:11 – A jubile shall that fiftieth year be unto you: ye shall not sow, neither reap that which groweth of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of thy vine undressed.

This is the likely source of the interest in Numerology, but much like we are told to watch the signs in the Stars for Sacred Signs; we are also told that the Astrologers and Numerologers who do this as a business probably have an agenda and are not like the Prophets of God who always give away their message.

Genesis 1:14 – And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years.

Isaiah 47:13 – Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee. 14 – Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it.

One God

In the very beginning, we can assume there was only God or the Number One, and this theme is repeated countless time sin the Bible with the reference to One God.

Two Complement each Other

The very first thing God created was Heaven and Earth which is Two, but continued with Day and Night, Land and Water, Sun and Moon and Male and Female which is all a division by the Number Two.

Genesis 1:1 – In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Genesis 1:5 – And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night.

Genesis 1:9 – And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.

Genesis 1:16 – And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

Genesis 1:27 – So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

This division by Two was done so many times in Genesis that it was deemed significant and is probably the basis of the well-known Yin and Yang Philosophy, since the divisions by God complement each other to perfection and is the actual definition of Yin-Yang.

The Holy Trinity

The Number Three is referred to as the Holy Trinity which can be a lengthy discussion and we will only touch it briefly here. God, often uses subtle clues and it is probably not a coincidence that Exodus 3 has the clearest passage describing the Holy Trinity.

Exodus 3:2 – And the Angel of the Lord (YHWH) appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.

Exodus 3:4 – And when the Lord (YHWH) saw that he turned aside to see, God (Elohim) called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.

The Angel of the Lord (YHWH), the Lord (YHWH) and God (Elohim) are Three different forms of God which were apparently all present and acted independently. Many would argue that YHWH and Elohim are one and the same, but there are significant reasons in the Bible for distinguishing between them as was done in Exodus.

Since God being a Spiritual being created Man in his own Spiritual image, it is not surprising that the Trinity is also found in Man as explained below:

There is the physical body, there is the mental body, there is the soul body. They are One, as the Trinity; yet these may find a manner of expression that is individual unto themselves. Edgar Cayce reading 281-24.19

Jesus further elaborated on this by enumerating the Holy Trinity as the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Eye of Providence Pyramid

This is another important concept and probably explains the prevalence of ancient Pyramid Iconography seen all over the World and present to this day in a well-known currency. The Eye on top is called the all-seeing eye of God and holds its proper place as the One God who rules the Holy Trinity.

The Four Beasts

Revelation 4:7 – And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.

The following passages connect the Four Beasts with the Four Horses and Four of the Seven Seals or Churches which we will discuss later with the Number 7.

Revelation 6:1 – And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the Seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the Four Beasts saying, Come and see. 2 – And I saw, and behold a White Horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.

Revelation 6:3 – And when he had opened the Second Seal, I heard the Second Beast say, Come and see. 4 And there went out another Horse that was Red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.

Revelation 6:5 – And when he had opened the Third Seal, I heard the Third Beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a Black Horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.

Revelation 6:7 – And when he had opened the Fourth Seal, I heard the voice of the Fourth Beast say, Come and see. 8 And I looked, and behold a Pale Horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And Power was given unto them over the Fourth part of the Earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

We cannot assume that the Seals and/or Beasts were connected in order, since we are specifically told One of the Beasts and not the First Beast which implies that the Second, Third and Fourth are just the next position and not necessarily the original order of the Beasts or the Seals.

We will need more information to properly connect them and that is best left until we have the full set of Seven Seals covered, but the first Four may be connected to the Cycle of Water or Cycle of Life itself, since it is the interaction between Water and Fire that gives us the Water in the Air that eventually replenishes the Earth.

Earth, Water, Fire, Air

Five and the Tabernacle

The whole description of the Tabernacle is full of references to 5, 10, 20 and 50 with typical passages below but from the curtains to the loops, to the boards, to the hooks, their sockets and the pillars is all filled with references to Five.

Exodus 26:1 – Moreover thou shalt make the tabernacle with Ten Curtains of fine twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet: with cherubims of cunning work shalt thou make them.

Exodus 26:3 – The Five Curtains shall be coupled together one to another; and other Five Curtains shall be coupled one to another.

Exodus 26:5 – Fifty loops shalt thou make in the one curtain, and Fifty loops shalt thou make in the edge of the curtain that is in the coupling of the second; that the loops may take hold one of another. 6 And thou shalt make Fifty taches of gold, and couple the curtains together with the taches: and it shall be one tabernacle.

Exodus 26:37 – And thou shalt make for the hanging Five pillars of shittim wood, and overlay them with gold, and their hooks shall be of gold: and thou shalt cast Five sockets of brass for them.

Apple Seeds

In Hebrew, the Tabernacle is known as the dwelling place of the Spirit of God, and was the source of their strength against adversity. It could be argued that the Pentagon was consciously or unconsciously designed to mimic this powerful relationship to the number Five. However, the one I like is that the number Five is linked to the Apple of Eden and the seed of Adam and Eve by God himself as shown in the five seeds of the Apple.

Six, the number of the Beast

Revelation 13:16 – And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: 17 – And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. 18 – Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the Number of a Man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

John gives us wisdom about the Number of a Man or Beast, but also says that very few will be able to understand it. The only other reference I know of the number of the Beast is the weight of the Gold received in one year from trading in Solomon’s kingdom. Since the passage from John also mentions trading, I suspect the influence of the Beast is the worship of Money and Gold instead of the Spirit of God.

Kings 10-14 – Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was Six hundred threescore and six talents of gold,

This is echoed in the following reading from Edgar Cayce which said that the Number of the Beast is more of an association in thinking or Forehead with the organization doing the work of the Beast or the actions of the Right Hand.

(Q) What is meant by the mark of the beast in the right hand, or forehead?
(A) These are as signs or symbols of this or that grouping, or of the organizations that become as a part of the vows or obligations to those who have joined in with the work of the beast. Edgar Cayce reading 281-34.11

Whatever the case, Revelation 6:12 is another subtle clue to the Number 6 and 12 and its negative effects with Earthquakes, Volcanoes and Blood Moons from the Ash as we saw with the eruption of Krakatoa in 1883. Even Jesus chose to join the Lord and again the sky was darkened as is described in Revelation 6:12.

Revelation 6:12 And I beheld when he had opened the Sixth Seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;

Luke 23:44 – And it was about the Sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. 45 – And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst. 46 – And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
